Kevin Kapler - Northshore Glass Δ

northshoreglass
Whereas by day I work to pay the bills, by night and on weekends I disappear into my studio to work and play with glass.  I work with both 'cold' and 'warm' glass.  By 'cold', I am referring to working on stained glass commissions, many of which are in private homes as well as a large project recently completed for the Education library at Queen's University.

I also work with 'warm' or fused glass. This entails assembling glass and then having it melt or fuse together in a kiln.  A second firing in the kiln is often required using a mold to give the piece its' final shape.  Over the years, my work in this area has continued to expand and deepen, giving rise to different bowls, platters, plates, sculptural pieces, as well as jewelry.  Please visit my website for a closer look.  My pieces are currently for sale at the Glass House in Kingston, Woodchuk Gallery and Gifts in Gananoque, or at my home by appointment.

Katleen Pratt - Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends  Δ

Kathleen-Pratt
Kathleen Pratt has 18 years of experience as a professional social worker with individuals, families, groups and community. She received her Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) in 1991, and her Masters of Social Work in 2004. She is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Kathleen is no stranger to the pain of separation. In 1996, when her relationship of seven years ended, she was looking for support to cope with the loss and found a Rebuilding seminar in her community. “The course changed my life. It helped me discover patterns in my relationships, and decide what I wanted to change. I gained the courage to do things I never thought were possible on my own. I made friends in the class, because they were people who understood what I was going through”. It was this life-changing experience; in addition to the marital separation of a close family member, that inspired her to offer a Rebuilding seminar in Kingston. “Separation and divorce are such isolating experiences, yet so many people are going through this crisis at any one time. People don’t have to go through this alone. What seems like a tragedy at the time can become a wonderful opportunity for personal growth”.
